I welcome comparison.

My success of teaching martial arts for 40 years is not down to slick marketing or unrealistic  claims so that is why I welcome everyone to come along and have a look, talk to the students and parents. Also make comparisons at the standards of our students against those from other martial arts clubs.


Why are we better?

The main priority for parents is to be sure that your children are safe and happy. I make sure that the training reflects your child's needs coupled with developing them to become not only a high preforming black belt but a success in life. I have many, many examples of taking a young person and filling them with confidence, courage and the strength to excel in adulthood. 


What can you expect?

When a child enters our training family, they are welcomed and supported to be in an included member. 

Very quickly they make new friends so it is them who are keen to attend training rather then the parent having to force them. 

Having said that, I am not a child minder so through fun, discipline and exercise they learn that rewards come from work and commitment. 


Belts and Achievements.

All the students are provided with clear bench marks and supported to achieve them. Only when they are ready, will they be put forward to grade for their next belt. I do not use multiple variations of belts to keep students interested (or the parents paying) but I make it my responsibility to build them up to be able to achieve the skills required to be a real martial artist. 


PLEASE NOTE: It breaks my heart when I have parents bring their children who have previously trained in other clubs. Inspite of every effort I make, it is sometimes difficult to explain how they seem to find it harder to keep up with younger students of much lower grades. Having said that, for those who are keen to learn and grow, with the parents help and support we do manage to bring them up to a standard that they can be proud of.

Your job is to attend, my job is to hold your hand on your journey to Black belt.
You don’t need to be fit, motivated or even know anything about martial arts. You just need to want to learn and change your health, fitness and confidence. 



What will I be doing when I join?
:Join in and meet the other students who will reassure and support you as they all know what it is like to start something new.
:Practice some basic techniques normally assisted by someone else and under the Masters supervision.
:Learn the basic principles of kicking, punching and blocking.
:Get involved in group activities.
:Learn how to apply techniques to real life situations in an easy, slow, safe and controlled way.
:So easy, in fact, that you’ll barely notice you’re doing it -- until you start to see the results.
:Practice techniques on strike bags to help develop power.
:Learn to escape from being grabbed, punched or even stabbed.
:Learn about body language and the non-verbal ques that we or attackers give off.
:Practice reaction skills to aggression and violence.
:Develop life skills that will change and improve all aspects of your life.
